The Alter London bespoke process consists of six simple steps:

  1. Place your order in writing, and as soon as it is acknowledged by one of our representatives the initial design and production phases begin.
  2. The product first undergoes design service where we use tailor-made software to design.
  3. Production then begins with the manufacture of the frame, where we use wood of the highest quality.
  4. The product then goes through the second phase of manufacturing, where we apply the foam and fabric of your choice.
  5. The last stage of production is finishing touches, ensuring a flawless product, before being securely wrapped and delivered.
  6. Finally, the product is ready to be installed. Alter London’s quality craftsmanship and diligent project management seamlessly support this installation process.

We supervise the production of all furniture through every step to ensure that our superlative standards are observed. Your sales associate informs you of the progress of the piece and is happy to arrange a visit to the workshop so you can personally oversee your product being made.

You need to make sure that the furniture you buy is the right fit for your space, which means making sure that:

  • the proportions are perfect for your room
  • the furniture can be fitted through your doors, stairs or hallways, clearing all access points.

Check the width, height, and depth of the furniture you would like to order and include this in your rough floor plan and against the ceiling height. Does it fit with ease?

When marking out where the furniture will go, remember to leave adequate space around the furniture.

With the exception of side tables and bedside tables, the rule of thumb is to allow at least 50cm of space between pieces of furniture.

When making sure that a piece of furniture will fit into your house, measure the width and height of all doorways, hallways, and stairways, including banisters and turns, and don’t forget about obstacles such as radiators, wall and ceiling lights. To make sure that the furniture you want to order will not get stuck in your doorway, check that all widths and diagonal depths are less than the entry dimensions.

Alter London offer split sofa options on some of our larger sofas. Some of our larger beds also come apart so they are easier to move – so remember to take this into account when you are working out if the furniture will fit through doorways, halls and up staircases.
